Hi David
I use Vegas for all my projects, but I do my mastering in Sound Forge
4.5g,as far as normalizing we use two here in our studio. I like
Waves L1,Tony my partner likes Waves L2 Hardware. To me the only
difference is when you run L1 and you don't have your release set
right it will sound alittle buzzy and it will bring up the bass in
the mix a little. And the L2 is VERY clean even at high levels. but
it's external hardware. As far as levels I normaly run my output up
to -0.03 to 0.00 output. There are others like Steinberg's Mastering
Edition it's OK and Sonic Timeworks Mastering Compressor it will clip
if you push it. They are all very good. I have all three but I only
use the Waves L1, You can download a demo I believe of the waves and
the Sonic Timeworks, I don't know about Steinberg,If you get a chance
check them all out,Its your music, money and ears. Hope this helps.
