I definitely agree. This forum should also have a FAQ that would answer the endless questions about how to do slow motion, what hardware to get, and other common requests.
That's what the communities are for. As soon as the corporate network is opened up for anything beyond posting, it becomes a HUGE legal and security nightmare. The DMN, DV.com, FastForward Vegas pages are all chock full of posts, tutorials, and veg files. The Sundance Media Group site is filled with great veg files, tutorials, and scripts. By not having a forum there, we stay politically free, and can be supported by nearly every community out there. And it saves Sony from the legal and security nightmares that they might otherwise face.
One easy, and non- controversial improvement to this forum is an improvement in the navigation of discussion threads.
When you open a thread, it should open in a new window. Then you drill down the posts in that window. When you're finished just close that window and you're back on the main page.
This is particularly useful if you're not on the latest posts page and have gone through a thread with many posts. You don't want to navigate back up the ladder, so you click on your bookmark for the forum. But that takes you back to the page with the latest posts.
I know you can open a thread in a new window manually, but you have to remember to, and you shouldn't have to.
Just go to "non-threaded" view and they are all listed on ONE page. Then a single "Back" takes you to the main page.
Click on Edit Account and change the "Forum View".
