Superimposing logos on videos...

without losing opacity?

Specifically, I have a pink and blue logo superimposed on a black background. I want to, somehow, superimpose that logo-video on top of separate scenic-video, and elminate the black background on the logo-video. SO that it looks lke a simple logo on a picture.

I've been doing something similar by placing the logo-video on track 1 and the scenic-video on track 2, and by setting track 1's compositing mode on "screen" or "add". But I keep getting opacity issues.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

How about chroma key to remove the black and leave the logo at full opacity?

3 ways i would try.

1. If the logo is a still image, save out a frame and bring it into photoshop, remove the background, and save it as a .psd with alpaha channel. In Vegas, import the still to track 1. Right-click it and choose the media tab. Down at the bottom you will see a drop-down for alpha. Choose premultipled (dirty) and you should be good to go.

2. If you don't have/know photoshop, then in vegas you can simply open the logo clip's pan/crop window and create a mask around the desired part, which will eliminate the background.

3. You can apply a chroma-key plugin to the logo clip and key out the black. However, this method is my least favorite, because the key is likely to be sketchy if the logo colors are dark or the edges are subtle.
