Note that there's another thread on this forum about the identical problem.
A good workaround, if you have "Nero": design and build your DVD Program in DVD-Architect, then use Nero to burn the disc.
I get the exact same error you're having, when I try to burn from DVDA, but by designing in DVDA and burning in Nero, all is well. (You can download Nero from nero.com for $49. Annoying extra expense if you don't already own the program, but it does get around the problem we're having! To be absolutely sure it'll work, you can download for free and try it, then purchase a serial number if you're satisfied.)
PS: I don't work for Nero, nor have any association with them except that I find their software very very reliable for burning both CDs and DVDs.

Thanks Ernie, yes, I've seen that post BUT when you spend good money for a product
you would "Appreciate if it WORKS" as advertised. I am still WAITING for
SoFo Tech support to help me out. I would love to just work in the SoFo environment.

Again, thanks Ernie for your response.

Have you contacted SF Tech Support, I sent a email and have only recieved the generic "we have recieve your email and will get bact to you.." email..

Yeah Dan, I emailed support and got the same email reply. I wonder, is someone
looking into this?

I wish that a "real" person emailed me and said they are looking into this, or this
is the priority and we will get back to you. I hate the feeling of NOT knowing
if they are looking into this matter!

You do get tech support with the purchase of your product. Did you try calling them? Calls take priority over e-mails.

As earthrisers says
"Note that there's another thread on this forum about the identical problem"
Look at "Burn to DVD+RW doesn´t burn"
It´s probably a firmware update of your burner you need.

Aje, #1. I HAVE the latest firmware update for my SONY Burner, #2. Why is it
that I can burn a DVD+RW with SONIC MYDVD? but I can't with DVD-A?

I still think it's a SoFo problem.
Aje wrote on 2/13/2003, 4:07 AM
Ok !
Maybe your burner doesn´t coop with DVDA at all
Perhaps SoFo could make a burner compatibilty list.
I´ve looked everywhere on Sofos site for one but couldn´t find any.
Hope you find a solution

Personally, I don't see the big problem. I never use the Authoring program to burn to DVD anyway. Here is my normal steps:

1. Edit Video & Render to MPEG2 format in Vegas
2. Author the DVD in DVD-A and CREATE TO DISK
3. Use the burning software that came with the drive to burn the Video_TS & Audio_TS directories

This has the following advantages:
1. You are burning with software provided specifically for that purpose
2. If you want multiple copies, all you have to do is burn the Video_TS & Audio_TS directories again.

FWIW, I have a Sony DRU120A with 1.51 firmware and I took a Verbatim +RW and did a quick erase in Nero 5.5.9.14 and told DVDA to burn to it and it said data is on the drive, proceed (Yes/No)....I say YES and have yet to have a problem. I've burned maybe 5 or so movies so far.

There's a list of supported drives here.

Thanks "barleycorn" for the burner compatibility list
I don´t see my burner "Memorex 100 DVD +R/RW 2,4x8AA with F/W 1,51"
but I can tell you and SoFo it works excellent with DVDA

We have discovered the bug that is causing this problem. A DVD Architect update will be posted within the next few weeks which will contain a fix for this problem. If you need a fix for this immediately, please contact Tech Support by phone: 608.204.7704 from 9am to 11:30 am, and again from 12:30pm to 5pm Central Standard Time. We can zip a couple of files for you and send them to you via email. Again, the soon to release update will contain a fix to this problem, so if you can wait a bit, the application will be patched up shortly.

Joshua and the developers allowed my wife and me to serve as testers for the new files, and they work great! They solve the problem with failing to write readable disks and also allow the disks to play on computer software players as well as stand-alone ones.

Call and get the files, or wait for the patch, but you will be well pleased, either way. Those folks really put a lot of attention on this, and they got it right.

Cheers,
Peyton
