Suppressing the fade while trimming audio

Is there a way to keep Vegas(7) from adding a fade-in or fade-out on audio events? I'm trimming audio events, and want to see the waveform I'm working on, but Vegas keeps putting a fade-in/out on the end of the event, making it impossible to see the waveform right to the edge. This happens even when not overlapped with anything else. I can remove the fade, but as soon as I start to trim the edge, it pops back. Is there an option to turn this off?
