OK - I am just a dental student that had a passion born in me 15 months ago with video factory that lead me to upgrade to vv3. All I want to do is create amazing home videos to satiate the desires of my video hobby. Until I am out of school I don't have very much money, therefore...

Can I create a surround sound DVD using VV4 (when I buy it) without getting and using the dvd architect?

I have a very nice burning program that came with my sony burner.

You will need to purchase DVD-A to get the AC3 encoder (it's cheaper that way). However, you can use any authoring program that will accept AC-3 5.1 encoded files for the actual DVD creation process.

For what it's worth, you can render surround WMA / WMV from Vegas 4 without the 5.1 surround plug-in pack or DVD Architect.

Its a VERY short list anyhow of authoring programs that can handle 5.1 ac3 files ..

DVDA is about the most economical way to go.

I doubt any authoring app that comes with a burner can do 5.1
