Surround Sound In Vegas Stereo In DVD Architect

Hello,

I'm not sure if this problem is to do with Vegas Pro 8 or DVD Architect Pro 5 so I'm asking this in both forums.

I have searched both forums but cannot find a solution.

I have prepared my film in Vegas Pro 8 in High Definition for Blue-ray. The audio source was stereo but in Vegas Pro 8, through preferences, I opted for Surround Sound. Everything appears to work fine in Vegas Pro with full Surround Sound.

When I import the audio into DVD Architect Pro 5 I can only get stereo sound. I have tried rendering in different ways in Vegas pro but I cannot get Surround Sound in DVD Architrect Pro.

Can someone please help me with this and explain what I need to do to keep the full Surround Sound I have in Vegas Pro when importing into DVD Architect Pro.

I would be really grateful for any help or suggestions.

Thanks.

A couple thoughts:
1) you don't mention this, did you in fact make a 5.1 ac3 in Vegas?
2) surround audio LOOKS like stereo audio in DVDA.

Hello jbolley and thanks for your reply.

(1) Yes I tried making a 5.1 ac3 in Vegas. I have tried every template.
(2) I actually tried playing the track in DVDA and it played in stereo.

I have since found that although DVD Architect Pro only plays in stereo, if I actually burn the video then play it full Surround Sound is there.

Also I found the following quote in the Vegas manual:

'Legacy Sony applications (and third-party applications) may not be able to read these 5.1-channel files.'

The conclusion must be that DVD Architect Pro 5 just doesn't support Surround Sound.

DVDA does support surround sound - it creates surround sound DVDs if the sound is AC3 encoded - it just does not decode the AC3 stream in it's preview playback - so what you see and hear is the actual AC3 encoded 2-track stream.
