SVCD quality using DV source vs. Analog source

I get better quality SVCDs (using a default SVCD template) when rendering Analog source than DV source. The DV source tends to show megablocks.
As I increase the bitrate, the megablocks are less and less observable. At DVD template, I effectively cannot see them.
Is this common? Should I apply a certain softening filter for a DV source prior rendering to SVCD bitrates?

You're right on: you realized the difference between your analog sources and DV sources is the sharpness and detail. Yes, applying a gentle Gaussian blur should decrease the macroblocking that you are seeing. You can apply it in the Video Preview window to get it on the whole project.
