SVHS & Hantarex Monitor

I'm really struggling. I'm asking this here 'cos there are a lot of experts in our audio/visual business - filmy, farss, Muttley and SPOT to name but 4 - for "direction" and possible assistance with a neat monitor I've sourced.

Ok, it is a Hantarex CT15" Quad. Here's a weblink to give some spec.

I've connected this up via the SVHS composite to the SVHS output of my Panasonic NV-DV 10000 deck. For monitoring the performance of this monitor I've also connected up 2 other monitors/TVs to check "quality". Now what I'm getting is a very slight loss of "sharpness" on the Hantarex. The other 2 monitors are of acceptable comparable sharpness as the Preview within Vegas.

This Hantarex shows the "whole" screen and the safe areas. It is of greater quality than what I've been used to. It is only this slight lack of sharpness that is making me think that I'm doing something wrong. It also has BNC connections with a 75ohm button [?] .

TIA

I'm slightly confused my son. It's either S-Video or COmposite. S-Video is Y/C and uses what looks like a 5 pin DIN connector. Composite video is usually on either BNC or RCA connections.
If it's composite then the LAST device in the chain (and only the last) should be terminated in 75 ohms.
As you say 'It also has...' I'm guessing you've hooked it up via S-Video in which case you should be able to get a pretty sharp image. Possibly the focus control needs a tweak? Or what type of tube does it use? Certain types of tubes may appear a bit 'soft'
I didn't see in the specs how many lines of res it has, good monitors should have 600 I'd say as a minimum 800 is much better. On a good monitor you should be able to see the artifacts in DV, pity (or is it a good thing?) that the average viewer never gets to see your work at such quality.
Of course any monitor is only as good as how well it's aligned and unless it's one of the expensive studio monitors it seems this needs to be done regularly.

Thanks DAD!

Bob, yes I'm confused . . The S-VHS plug is round with several "fine" pins inside. The other possible means of connection are the BNCs. But I don't have BNCs on the Pannie. On the back of the Pannie are several phonos. I've used these to connect to the "other" checking monitors. er . . would connecting Phono to BNC assist? . .. Yes the Hantarex "would" be the first and last in the line on that BNC connection. So 75ohm on or not?

"Possibly the focus control needs a tweak? . . . Certain types of tubes may appear a bit 'soft' " that is exactly what I'm seeing. Softness. I wouldn't even know HOW to tweak even if there was an option.

Would you be willing to direct me via email and take this "off-forum" . . doesn't worry me .. but others may get a bit Vegas-Centric - yeah?
