Swap laptop external monitor for Vegas 11 Platinum

I use a Sony laptop (15") with Win 7 and an external monitor (23"). For convenience, I'd like to preview on the laptop and edit on the external monitor as this gives me better control over the editing process. Instructions only show you how to use the external monitor for the preview.

Can anyone help with swapping this around? So far I haven't succeeded.

Thanks.

I don't think you can do this in Vegas.

However, you could tell Windows that the external monitor is the primary "1" monitor and the laptop display is the secondary "2" monitor. Vegas will then launch itself on the external monitor, and the preview can be sent to the laptop display.

Vegas Pro has a setting under Options / Preferences / Preview devices that lets you select which monitor will be used for preview. I guess that's not available in the Studio version.

Thanks, Chienworks. Tried it but it doesn't work.

When you select the external monitor as desktop in Windows, Vegas Studio does not give you the option to use the laptop as secondary monitor. Selection of a secondary monitor only seems to exist when you select 'Extended Display' in Windows and that defaults back to laptop as primary. It's a pity that this simple choice isn't offered in Vegas Studio.
