Swapping Audio Between V6 - Low Mem?

OK, stay with me on this. AND I think I've done this successfully before today, so I'm asking to make sure I haven't forgotten something.

1/- 2 instance of Vegas open: VA & VB

2/- Locate a piece of audio in VA, BUT want it in VB - just the Audio, not the video

3/- I don't want the whole piece of Audio

4/- Open Event within VA in the Trimmer

5/- Scrub to the bit of audio, create a highlighted Loop and Copy this to VB

6/- The Audio is a bit weak so I apply Audio Volume FX

7/- I get Low Mem warning.

8/- Can't open AS Copy in Sound Forge either - low mem

9/- Check all mem and gallons of it.

10/ Repeat experiment BUT doing this from within VA - this works

Soooo... I can copy from one instance to another, but it would appear I can't copy to another instance and THEN apply an FX ( here audio ) without getting a low mem warning.

PLUS, the Loop in Trimmer CAN be opened in SF - no low mem warning.

TIA,

Grazie
