.swf support...NOT

Sony's pulled a Rather. Big headline...not much truth.

"New! Import .SWF files." Seems clear enough.

I received a CD with a flash .swf video file on it that I was asked shorten. As it was loudly trumpeted that Vegas now allows me to import .swf files, I thought Vegas would save the day.

Turns out Vegas only imports Flash text files, nothing more.

I'd call that "partial" support at best...not really worthy of a headline and it didn't help me at all when I really needed it.

Vegas does import .swf-files. The limitations are vector property is not supported and Flash version 6 is not yet supported. Any else works fine on my system.

The purpose of SWF support in Vegas 5 is to read .swf files for use as animated text. Flash 6 supports several kinds of actions, embedded movies etc, plus audio. Vegas only supports opening .swf vector files for use as text - no audio, no compressed movies, nothing besides vector text. Since Screenblast Movie Studio 3.0 makes movies in the Flash 6 format, they will not open in Vegas 5.0. If you are exporting your animation from Flash MX for use in Vegas, you will need to follow the instructions below when outputting.
