sympte, adats and motu

Have just switched to Vegas Video from VST for film sound
track work and sympte. How I worked before was the VCR had
sympte burnin window and LTC striped in analoque audio
tracks. Fed VCR's sympte into Motu MTP AV which synced VST
and adats. Will this work with Vegas? Also trying
capturing the film and audio sympte track to Vegas timeline
which would enable Vegas to be the master, but still using
sypmte over MTC. Any suggestions or better methodss greatly
appreciated. If posting answer here please email a copy to:

This method will work with Vegas Video, and it sounds like
this is probably the best method to use to get everything
to sync. It sounds like the only problem you might run
into is having the Adat chase. Through my past experience,
I never had really good luck having an Adat chase
anything. If I was you I would first lay all your Adat
Tracks off to Vegas, having Vegas chase the Adats. Then
Layoff your Video into Vegas. I don't know if you can
layoff Video, using the Vegas capture utility and have it
sync to the timecode. I usually just use a "2 pop" on an
audio track and then line up the Video using that. Once
you have everything layed off and lined up in Vegas, then
you don't have to have anything chase. Do your work and
then have Vegas chase the Adat and lay your tracks back to
the Adat if you need to do that, once you're finished
editing and mixing. I do this same kind of thing using a
DA-88, and it works fine. DA-88's chase better than Adats,
the only problem is that you end up having to replace the
head stacks every 800 hours. So I usually just use 1 DA-88
now to lay my tracks off back and forth from Vegas, cuts
down on the head wear and frustrations.
