Since Vegas 5 doesn't have midi tracks, is it possible to synchronize Vegas 5 with Acid 4 or 5?

Yes, but it's a kludge. Actually, I've not tried it with Vegas 5. Look on the Sony pages for VMR, virtual Midi Router.
You can also try Hubi's midi loop.
