Sync Cursor on Text media is N/A

I notice that I can't access (grayed out) the "Sync cursor" feature when editing a generated Text. This makes it very difficult to move/change the text in time.

Is this not available in VMS9B?

I notice that I do get the feature if I add an FX to the text, but only relative to the FX in time.

My work around is to use mutiple Texts, but it would be nice to have a single tect box that I can change over time.

Welcome to VMS Eigentor. That is something that bugs (trying to be nice)everyone. It's just the way it is because Sony doesn't care. The code is already written for that to work, they just don't want to take the time to copy and paste. We all know how hard that is ;) Cin

I was afraid of that. Is it available in the $500 version?

There is no sync cursor available in any generated media in any version/flavor of Vegas.

It's a mystery, but there it is.

Ok, thanks.

Also, after much hair pulling last night, something else dawned on me. In attempting to make the Text event last as long as the video event, I stretched it. I guess this would not be an issue if the Text event were static. But mine have changes in text or position over time (using keyframes). Apparently stretching the events actually causes them to repeat, not just last longer. And if you stretch earlier (in time, to the left) you actually start repeating from the end of the event.
Is there something I can do to make the text longer, but not repeat?

Hold the control key down while you drag the end of the event out to the right. This stretches instead of extending. It works for any event type.

As you might also now guess, Ctrl-dragging the end to the left squishes instead of trims.

Gosh darn it! I think I knew that. If I do that with a video clip it slows it down, correct?
