Sync Sony IC recorder audio to camcorder audio

I shot a wedding and had the groom use an IC voice recorder to get an independent audio track (Let's call it G1). I want to replace the camcorder audio track (V1), but found that the G1 track was out of synch with the video track after 2-3 minutes. It matches markers again, then is out of sync by 1-2 seconds. How can I realign the G1 track to the video without chopping up the video every 30 seconds or so?

I used 2 cameras. The B roll camcorder was set to a different resolution, causing me fits in clip placement. Was that enough to cause this problem?

Thanks.

Out of sync in which direction? (in other words which is lagging behind the other?)

Cutting the audio track is a lot easier ... but it has to be the video that lags behind. If you need to cut the video track then I would suggest doing it before it gets too obvious. Lots of quick cuts would be less evident than a few big jumps.

Another possibility is to take the voice recorder track, duplicate it, then see if you can edit it to save the "empty" spaces where no one is talking.

This is the room ambiance. String as many of these as you can get together, overlapping each slightly. You can even duplicate and "loop" this to make it longer. Again you will need to overlap each edit. Then use this to extend the voice recorder track to sync to the video track in appropriate places.

The recorder is dropping gaps of silence no doubt.
