I've read the clear instructions in Help: right mouse, select one link then select sync in submenu... and here the world stops for me. No matter what combinations I've tried, that submenu remains ghosted. Please help me with this.
This feature works similarly to Parent Track, but at the event level, where multiple selected events are linked with a master event. The movement that takes place in the master event is reflected in the events that are linked to it, but the movement made in the linked events remains independent.
I appreciate this innovation and can see how many editors can benefit from it but it is not giving me relief . Much of the reason for that is the video that is narrated like a horse race. What's the hurry here? Basically all I'm getting is how to use it which helps me understand how little I can benefit from it. So please, is there a way for me just to get rid of it as if I never used it before? I've tried opening up a couple of my older versions and damn if they don't open up with this innovation too. It spreads like wild bamboo.
EDIT: I happened upon a workaround that got me out of this self conflicted mess; I kept holding down CTRL-Z and just watched time run in reverse until every move I had made ran itself out and I was back at the beginning when all was well.
@ Joelson_Forte: Thank you so much for your good will. I do sincerely appreciate your effort to help me out, onward.
Only now I understand that you want to undo the link sync. You can do this in two ways:
Undo Link Sync only in selected events. 1.Select the linked events you want to unlink 2.Right-click 3.Choose the Sync Link option 4.Choose the Unlink option
Undo Link Sync in all events 1.Select any event that is linked 2.Right-click 3.Choose the Sync Link option 4.Choose the Select All option 5.Choose the Unlink option
I made a screen recording to help you understand it better, in case you ever need this option again.
I do need to do this because my events are still linked, but your #5 point is where the squirrel lies; this has never worked for me. I have never been able to see the Unlink option not ghosted. I am on V-19 (build 424). Oh, and now all the events of my 1 hr project are linked without my participation.
Since no one else reflected upon my inability to unghost my sync link option I have to assume that this is not a common occurrence nor can it be a bug. My question now is, what would be the best solution for me to fix this?
Should I uninstall and reinstall Vegas build 424? Can there be anything lass drastic for me to try?
@EricLNZ I followed your directions and to my great dismay Sync Link still shows the submenu "Unlink" "Select All" ghosted. Any thoughts?
WRONG! Dah! I have to first link some to unlink some and that works. I must say that having saved my initial quite elaborate layout over 4 monitors, after importing the layout's name everything popped back into place.
