Synchronize audio and video

kyleknapp wrote on 11/18/2020, 11:49 AM

When I record video (using Vmix) and then import it into VMS 17 Platinum, the timing of the video is always a slightly behind the audio. I routinely Ungroup the tracks and manually slide one or the other to synchronize them. Is there an easier way? Perhaps a setting or plugin to delay the audio (or advance the video) by a specified value?

Is there any delay settings on Vmix?

well, shut the front door... that was too easy!

I know I tried that when I first started using Vmix, but changing the setting didn't seem to do anything. Obviously I was doing it wrong.

Took me a minute find the location of the setting, but once I found it I, I just typed in the offset in milliseconds (which I know from manually adjusting dozens of videos in VMS), and voila! It works

THANKS!

😄 Glad can help!

May we know what offset factor do you put in Vmix for your workflow?

I believe the offset value factor should be the same time as you do the adjustment in VMS.

This can be a reference to other Vmix users as well or similar (multicam?) systems.

216 ms

But I suspect it has less to do with vMix itself, and more to do with the cheap webcam and microphone I'm using. :)

Dang! I upgraded my GPU, and updated VMS to the latest revision, and now the problem is back. And I can't remember where the setting is in vMIX...

update:
Ah! Found it. I was looking in "Audio Settings" but it's in "Recording Configuration settings". (bottom of the screen, the "gear" next to the "Record" button).

I'm getting too old for this...
