synchronizing 2 events

say you have 2 clips - the first contains the first minute or so of a recording and the second contains most of the entire recording but minus the first 30 seconds. is there a way to load both clips into the timeline and synchronize them so you know where the overlap point is? in other words, the point on clip 1 at which the start of clip 2 begins. does this have to be done manually or does vms have a way of doing this?

You'll have to do it manually - but it's not that difficult, I find it's easier comparing the audio waveforms rather than the pictures.

One little device that assists with this is the "snap offset". It's a little white triangle in the lower-left-hand corner of an event. You can move it inward to any point on the event, then you can use it to "snap" align with another event edge, or another snap offset, etc. In your case, you'd find the point in the 1st clip where the alignment should occur, then move the "snap offset" to that point. Then move the 2nd clip and align its edge with the snap offset.

I've found that using these is a little better than trying to "eyeball" the alignment. It's especially helpful for aligning inner points on two events without requiring splits.
