Syncing Envelope velocity between the video and audio in Vegas Pro 13

To explain it really simply, I want to basically sync the velocity events that I make on the video, to do the same for the audio,as seen in this image

https://gyazo.com/933a56d97d6b73dd8fb66c25592a65f9

But there is no way to insert a velocity envelope for the audio, so in slowing down/speeding up the video, the audio stays the same, while the video does what you set it to do with the velocity.

How can I use the velocity for both, as using CTRL then click dragging the audio makes an extremely rough transition, and is extremely hard to sync up with the video.

I don't think you can. As far as I know, a real audio speed ramp is not possible in Vegas. To exactly match the velocity envelope with a gradual change of pitch on the audio track will be a challenge. Check out "Audacity" software. I think it is shareware. I believe it can do a gradual change of speed for audio.

Yes but getting that to sync with the video... oh boy.

I have audacity and use it all the time, and that would not work out well.

What are you trying to sync: music, voice, ambient sound?

JhonConners wrote on 3/14/2017, 1:02 PM

So say in a frag movie of a game where you speed up and slow down video but also want to keep the audio in game, so you need to use some velocity on the audio aswell.

So audacity cannot do a gradual change of pitch over a certain period of time?

It can change the pitch without changing the tempo, it can change the speed (both pitch and tempo), and it can change the tempo without changing the pitch (which is probably what the OP wants). But, as far as I can tell, it cannot do any of those gradually, at least not without a third-party plug-in.

I did a little messing with Audacity. It seems that if you add a Time Track you can create an envelope-like line that results in a gradual speed reduction and gradually lower pitch. You can start at 100% and set the bottom point for some lower percentage and go from 100% to whatever in a specific period of time. It's clunky to be sure, but it is gradual. This is not something I'd have on my list of things for future versions of Vegas.

Hm. Does anyone know if adobe premiere can do that? A friend has a legal license to it that I might finesse

I just tried it, but could not figure out how to do it. I could only move the percentages of the entire track, but not how to make different points at different times.

OK, I went through it. Unfortunately, it not only slows things down as requested, it also changes their pitch. It would be nice to be able to change the speed while keeping the pitch.
