Syncing Voice-Overs To Multiple Video Events

I have several video events on the timeline, all on the same track. I plan to use my mic to record voice-overs to describe what is happening on each event, The voice-overs will also be on a single audio track.

Am I correct in assuming that each recorded audio event will "stick" to the associated video event that it is describing? In other words, if I were to move the order of the video events, after doing the voice-overs, will the audio voice-over tracks stay syncronized with the respective video event?

Not unless you group them.

Ok, I have the Grouping option activated. But I cannot get the voice track to record. I have clicked the "Arm For Record" button on the track. The dB meter is picking up sound, but nothing records.

I set the cursor at the beginning of the Event, Arm For Record and then click play. As the video event is playing, I am speaking into the mic, but nothing gets recorded.

What simple step am I missing?

I found the problem. I was not clicking the Record button on the Transport bar.

You don't record into an existing event. That represents a file that already exists on the hard drive and you can't alter it.

Choose an empty audio track and arm that for recording. Record there and when you're done with each section you'll be prompted for a file name for saving each new recording as a .wav file.

It appears that when I created the video events on the timeline, an associated audio track was also syncronized to each video event, even though there was no audio associated with the original video events.

I have now done my voice-overs on that synced audio track so that the voice is in-sync with the video that I am describing.

Now I plan to add music to each event, using a separate track. I am not exactly sure how to get this new audio track to provide music that will be in-sync with each video event.

I did a little experimenting and see that the "Layout Audio CD From Events" option may be what I am looking for. When I turned this option on, vertical lines appeared that extended through all the tracks. These lines were tied to the beginning and end of each video event. Is this the right option to use to make sure my music selections stay in-sync with my previous video and voice tracks?

Well, upon closer examination, the "Layout Audio CD From Events" does not create vertical lines at the beginning and end of each event. So that option does not accomplish what I need.

I am back to square one. What tool do I need to sync my music selections to each video event?
