Sysem Halt when input audio

My System always blocks when i input the audio file. I have to restart every time. Only ones i succeed but I was not able to hear anything-the audio was ac3 5.1Dolby. With the wav files it starts decoding peaks and sometimes after 6% other times after 20% the system halt. I'm using 2GHz 512RAM PC.
Software DVD Architect 2. Please help!!!

My system gets horrendously sluggish when handling AC-3, but I have never had it stop completely. Have your tried short (small) AC-3 files?

No I didnt try smaller AC3 files. the one i tried is 350MB.
