SYSTEM LOW MEMORY

I get this error message when I am editting a plain video, not special FX or transition. a few text screens. All my local apps are closed. Here's the message: An error occurred while loading file xxxxxx. The system is low on memory. You may be able to reduce memory usage by closing other applications.

I have nothing open but Vegas Movie Studio Platinum. I have a 2 gig RAM, 400 G hard drive. Core 2 DUO processor. I'm not sure what is happening here. I'm not very successful in my fixes.

Any help is appreciated.

Are you using any still images? Are any of them large files?

Is your PageFile big enough? pls. look at the PF usage in the Windows task manager.

I would suspect spyware trying to phone home

you said "local" apps are closed. are you running this through a network?

you may have some registry issues that are confiscating memory that wont show up as an application. have you tried a selective boot? do you have a program that can check your registry?
