System reboots when rendering

When I try to render certain mpeg 2 files in the "DVD Better" format, the file will render (up to 80 percent at times) and suddenly my system re-boots. The frustrating part is that sometimes files render and sometimes they don't.

I have an Athlon 900 with 256 MB RAM and a dedicated hard drive for video. My system should be up to the task. Does anyone have any ideas?

Note: I used to use Media Studio Pro 5.2 and certain transitions caused the system to crash during render. Could their be some effect that I've placed in my video causing this?

One thing to look for is CPU overheating. I think those Athlons are notorious for heat related problems, so if you can check your motherboard or CPU temperature, that may give some clues. My P3-933's hit 120F when they're on constant duty like rendering, which should be fine, but if you're getting up to the 140s or more, it might be something to watch out for. Extra case cooling or a better CPU fan will help there.

I checked out the heat issue and this is not a problem with my system. I have a larger case with the cooling fans approved by AMD. However, I do appreciate the input.

I tried rendering to AVI with great success. I can also render MPEG 2 with my copy of U Lead Video Studio. I think the problem is with the Video Factory mpeg 2 rendering.

I'm going to try to take U-Lead off my system in case there is a conflict there but I feel there is a software problem.
