T-800 footage mini-DV HD camera footage notopening

Hi -

I have a little new mini DVR from China recently bought on Ebay as a new product called the
CamStick T-800.
I recorded two minutes of walk around test footage but only can view it through my Pol Pot media player.
(Windows Media Player, DIVX, and Quick Time could not view it)

Was happy to see it recorded in what would seem to be a common format MJPEG/AVI. The Media Info read out is below. However Sony Pro 8.0c and Studio Platinum 13 would not open the file.

Looks like I might have to change file formats on this one unless someone has other advice on native editing support for this file type.

Does anyone think Vegas Pro 12 will open this?

I primarily use Any Video Convertor for such things. Any ideas on what format would be best to encode to so that Platinum 13 would open it?

I can post it to Dropbox if someone is interested.

Thanks,
Bill

Mainconcept MJPEG demo version might open it.
You can find the link on these forums.

Thanks Musicvid10:

I was able to get a fairly common conversion using AVC latest V5.5 to a MP4 X264
4000 bit rate - High Quality

Yielded a HDV 1080P/1440 by 1080p
Frame rate: 23.976 IVTC Film
Blend Fields...

This opened in Studio 13 Platinum just fine.

However I want a 50p format so I can burn to a BluRay.

Anyway this is one way to work with this file.

Thanks,
Bill

I have encoded a second clip as a MP2 1920 by 1080 p 29.97 3000 bit rate high quality 2 encode passes in AVC.

This also opens in Studio 13.

I have "Made Movie" to a BluRay which matches the above parameters however when I was just setting up my Blu Menu in DVDA the mouse froze and I had to do a hard reboot.

Anyway this route will work also.

The good thing about this camera is it's small size and the cost was $25.00 from China. They sell in other places for $50.00 to $150.00. It takes up to a 32 GB micro sd card with a self-contained lithium battery and a 5 count IR LED's. On my PC the drivers got it to show as a Standard Camera and can take snapshots off the software view. My next step is to try to get it to work as a Web Cam and in Win7.

I plan to carry it around in my fanny pack for filming tidbits that might crop up. You know - alien invasions, Bermuda Triangles, and the Sasquatch on the edge of town.
