T-DIFF/D88 Motu 2408MK3-PCI-424 Card

It did sound like a dream come true. To transfer DA88 24 tracks to
our new PC, and with Windows XP-Pro..it was a fine dream.

Well, it seems that Vegas is so deep into image, that the concept of sound in-put
is put on hold. Motu sees the D88 and the computer, the clock is locked, and
Vegas 2 and 3 can not figure out what is on the track input config.

So if we want to use the Sonic foundry fine plub ins, we will have to wait
for someone to score a film that needs fine software and inputs for both image and sound.

Has anyone moved Tascam DA88 to a PC, 24 tracks? And we still dream!

Have you changed the driver option in Vegas to 'Windows Classic Wave Driver' which will expose the seperate inputs?

Did you tell Vegas which inputs to use for each track?

I've been doing that for over a year. RTFM ;-)

the motu software is totally counterintuitive and a sorry bitch to use, but really, if you delve into the manual you will see how you can do what you want to do. MOTU's frustrations have led to tons of posts on these subjects all over the net, so if you do some searching you will find it posted often enough to figure it out, even in this forum I think.

For a no questions/no BS solution to getting TDIF tracks into vegas, I used to use Soundscape Mixtreme's and if we find that they are able to do dual card ASIO in Vegas, I'll be using them again. AWESOME company with wonderful tech support

Still, that MOTU will certainly do everything you need as soon as you correct some pilot error

i just transfered 12 songs of 32 tracks with my motu into vegas. make sure you set up your 2408 first, then launch vegas. make sure your clock is set to external word clock, or whatever you are using to sync. also, tdif is bidirectional, so any input you have enabled, you must also enable the output. hope this helps

Thanks for the time. You are right about "windows classic driver"..
We went back to Vegas Audio 2 and it seem to default to that setting.
So, Motu works!

I am glad that you have been doing "that" for year. As for me I go back to razor blade edits and machines that work. With so many companies and soft-hardware versions a modern studio is like strange dream. If you need any tricks on 2" analog edits call me at the studio.

Thanks for the time, and I agree about the Motu. Todd is an engieer at the studio
and has worked with Vegas/Pro T/ and a mess of other programs...he got the Motu to wake up with VEGAS...the arming of in and out from VEGAS is like doing set up for some form of surgery. When we got the stuff going we made a 24 track transfer temp.
folder cause you feel kinda stupid arming with the mouse 48 T-Diffs...
And as you know we need that Classic Wave Driver, Kinda like my El Camingo
(1979)..stay cool
