tab order

when first entering a scene selection menu, how do you specify which link/thumbnail gets focus first? i know about the Object Order option off the context menu but that only allows you to set which is shown on top of the others assuming the items all overlap each other. but that's not my situation. just looking to set a simple tab order (the lower numbered item being the one that gets focus first).

i have 3 links on this menu - 2 chapter thumbnails and a Back to Main button. i want the first chapters thumbnail to get focus first. right now it's the Back button.

That's easy to do in DVD Architect. (That is the program you're asking about, right? This is the Vegas Movie Studio forum.)

In DVD Architect, there are a couple of ways to do it.

The simplest is to change the order the buttons appear listed on the menu page in the Project Overview window (on the left side of the interface).

You can also click to select each button on a menu page. When you, look at the Button Properties' Navigation page. Here you can set whether the button order is set to Auto (in which case it will automatically set the button highlight order from the upper left to lower right of the page) or you can designate in which order.

I cover a lot of tricks like these in my book, available on Amazon, if you're interested.

yeah, i am using DVD-A. for some reason it didn't even occur to me to go that forum.
anyway, changing the order of the links in the Overview window did the trick. amazing what a single drag and drop can accomplish.

thanx..

one thing i wish Sony would do is add a series of preset objects for things like thumbnail frames, cursors(images) for custom highlighting, menu templates, menu design items like straight lines/separators, etc. that's one thing i like about Pinnacle is that it gives you lots of extras in addition to more varied and better transitions.
