Task switching with Vegas Pro 8

He's the problem. I am using Vegas Pro and Photoshop (or Sound Forge, or whatever).

If I change focus from Vegas Pro to the other program and go back, I have a HUGE delay before I can actually do anything. It appears to be reloading content or something.

I sthere some setting I didn't do that would shrink the pain of task switching?

Options - Preferences - and UNCHECK "Close media files when not the active application."

It's playing nice with other apps and allowing the access to the files. Then when you switch back, it has to open them all back up again.

I was having the same problem. I recently installed Vegas on a new PC, I guess it's the default setting. I never noticed it being slow before, but this cleared it right up. Thanks Edward!

BTW - I also uncheck "open last project" and increase the number of recent projects to 9.

You are all great! I knew it had to be something simple. Work flow is much better now!

Thanks!

Now here's your disadvantage. For example, you used to be able to edit an image (same is true for all other types of files as well) that's on the timeline and, when going back to Vegas, the new changes would be there. Now Vegas will keep the file open so your image editor will not be able to save the changes back to the original file unless you close Vegas.

lgf30022,

What are your system specs? Perhaps a boost to your RAM might help.
