David, I agree. SF support has always been great all the years I've
been using their products and it's one of the reasons I use their

Hmmmm...I was just thinking the same thing about digidesigns tech
support. Those guys are pretty good over there too, but you know the
best part about digi's techsupport....they're honest, and if they
don't know of a solution to your problem, they'll come out and tell
you, instead of just keeping you hanging, or they'll even give you
links to other posts from users with the same problem, so you can see
what they have done. I'm not criticizing Sonic Foundry's
Techsupport, but I've been hanging out at Digidisigns forum ever
since "ProTools Free" was released and I have to give it to those
guys, they're taking a lot of shit from people right now because 90%
of the users can't get the program to work and are let down by
digidesign, but they're still hanging in their and helping those
people and keeping them informed on what is being done to solve the
problems eventhough there's not an immediate solution. You'll never
get that kind of honesty from SF techsupport that I've noticed from
hanging out at this forum. Vegas's user interface still rules over
any other software, so I have to give a shot out to the programmers
for doing a great job at that....that's why I'm still here.

I was talking about _Phone_ tech support. And as I said it has been
excellent.

I fully understood what you meant, but oh you want to talk
about "phone techsupport"....oh yeah...I have to give that award to
Yamaha. You Email Yamaha with your problem, and within a Day, "They
call you" and work out your problem with a case number, so if you
have any additional problems, you can follow up with the same tech.
Now that's "phone techsupport". It's funny how you can give a
thirsty man a drink of water and it becomes the best glass of water
he's ever drank.

P.S. When you were getting personal with them on the phone, you
didn't happen to ask them when they expect to have Vegas 2.0b
released did ya? Please share if they did.

sigh...yet another bitter person on the NG. I didn't say SF phone
tech support was the best. Simply it was outstanding. By far the
best support I've gotten period is from compubank, but now I'm really
OT.

Ragarding 2.0b I did ask, I wasn't given a timeframe. I'd like it
for the MPEG plug-in that hopefully will be included. I'm also
having difficulty getting high quality rendering with the RealVideo8
codec, but that could be my fault.
