Tell *single* Event to be from a different Media?

I have two Events, each selected (by mark in/out points) from the same sub-section of a Media file. How do I tell just one of the Events to be based on the same selection of a different Media file? I know about [Event > Select in Project media List ... Replace] but that doesn't work in this particular case, because it affects the (shared) Media Object hence both Events. I wish there was an option in Properties for an Event, to reassign just it to a different Media file/object, but it doesn't exist. Is there a way round this, either directly or using a script?

(Also, in case anyone from SonyVegas is reading this, it would help if the Event Properties or "Take" showed the in/out times).

Pick up the alternative media file with Right Mouse button and drop it onto the Event. From the drop down choose "Add as Take". This will replace that event alone, and you can use "T" to toggle through as many takes as you have "piled up" if you want to change your mind or compare later.
You may need to check the In point, but if it's not quite right, you can Alt drag the event to slip the exact footage you want into place.

You can see that information on the View - Edit Details screen.

Thanks Peter, definitely a step forwards in usability. Shame about having to manually re-set the in-point (the new take defaults to time 0), but at least the clip length stays the same.

I see that in Edit Details one can not only read but also write the times. So I note the Take Start time of the original event then when adding the new take I overwrite the Take Start.

Works well!

Thanks Edward, hints and tips are always useful as I am still learning and never know what I have missed. I had found the info in the Edit Details sceen but just wished for the conveniance of seeing the same info in Properties, to save "hunting around" for the right entry in the list.

You can enable timecode in the thumbnails. I always have that On. That way I can pretty much not have to leave the timeline to do anything.

To get the required in Point, if you open the second clip in the trimmer first, you can identify the in point there, and drag from that point within the Trimmer to create a looped region, which can then be picked up and dropped with right mouse.

The exact length of the dragged region doesn't matter, since the second Take will automatically be the same length as the existing Event.
