Temp File Folder

I am new to DVDA 2 and am trying to burn a DVD. At the "Prepare DVD" stage I get the message "There is not enough room in the temporary files folder for preparing the DVD". I have done a thorough search of the drives in my computer and cannot find such a file. My question is, where should this file be, what minimum size should it be, and how do I fix it?
The given estimated size for my DVD is 2,920MB (63% of 4.7 GB media).

TIA
RonR

When you click on "Make DVD", you are given the option of using the default temp folder or you can specify the location for your DVD files.

If you only have a few Gb of free disc space, then you need to delete some files or buy a larger disk drive. I just saw an ad for 500Gb drives for about $160, or 200Gb for $70. It is preferred that you have your video work on another drive.

DVDA's error message in this case is a bit vague (or maybe it's too specific) since, technically, folders don't have "room" -- The disk drives they're on do. (Well, unless the folders have quotas enforced, which is unlikely in this case, I think.)

The drive you're using should have free a bit more than twice the size of your project. How many harddrives do you have in your computer, and how much space is available on them? (Use Windows Explorer to find out -- choose a drive on the left, right click its icon, and choose Properties.

Then, in DVD Architect, go to Options -> Preferences -> Burning tab and set the Temporary Files Folder to a folder on a drive with enough space. If none of them have enough space, you'll need to do some housekeeping on your hard drives or add another one.

The folder that n19093 refers to, I think, is the DVD prep folder, which I don't believe is what DVDA is referring to in its error message. You can have a DVD prep folder (where the DVD files are saved to) on a different drive than the temp folder (which DVDA uses during the process and then deletes its files from). Granted, if both options are set to use the same drive, and you get the error, you'll have to change one or both options.

Does this help?

Thanks Steve and Rob. You were on the ball. I had underestimated how much of the free space on my hardrive this project would take, and I misunderstood how the temporary file worked. After a bit of housecleaning the DVD preparation and burning process went ahead without a hitch.

Thanks again,
