Play the original from the tape on the TV and see if it looks as bad as the version that you exported that doesn't have the plugins. If that's how it looks like too, then, that's what your camera captured.

You should render youre project in Vegas as Mainconcept MPEG2 with a template as Archetect video stream. There will be no audio rendered with this. Hit the custom button, go to the video tab and set the bit rate at CBR 8,000,000. Then do your render. THEN again do a render as and choose AC3 and render with the same name just a different designation. Store both files in the same folder. Then import the Mpeg2 into DVDA (the AC3 file will follow automatically) and burn your DVD.

I'll be curious to hear how the video looks after changing the bit rate.

Also, one thing that would be interesting to know is the degree to which you use "sharpness." Sometimes using too much actually makes the picture look worse.

A couple things that might help people here understand the problem:
- You mention watching on TV, but how does it look on your computer?
- If you post a "no-FX" and a "with-FX" video somewhere like YouTube or Vimeo, people may be able to offer opinions.
- How are you watching on your TV? Safe to assume you are doing so via standard DVD?

In the end, concert footage from a dark room may just not be sharp looking...
