This is very easy to do. Under the Text & Backgrounds tab (which is where you've been already, right?) Choose Text instead of Credit Roll. Probably the first preset "Default Text" will best do what you want. You can pick a solid color text to place on top of the image with the image showing through between the letters. Place this text event on the upper "Video Overlay" track.

To improve readability you might want to play with the shadow settings a bit. This can help avoid the problems of having the letters disappear when they are over an area of similar color in the picture.

Thank you thank you Chienworks for replying to my posts. The text works great like you said, and I'm in the process of downloading the VF2.0c update so I can then try rendering to an MPEG ( may purchase the MPEG2 as it sounds like that's even better?) and then I will be trying out burning this all to a cd and see how it works!!! Yippie! I would be flabergasted if this works (as would my husband who would be happy to hear less frustration-pounding on the keyboard!) Thx, -M
