Text Animation + Crop Background to Text

Hello,

I am trying to create my text to have an effect and look similar to "Pirate Software" shorts. Here is one for reference:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/wWFrSjWjV1s

When I try to add an animation, it unchecks my "crop background to text" box.

And when I recheck "crop background to text" it remove the animation.

I am not sure if there is a different way to do this (I am a beginner editor), but I would love to save a preset to look like Pirate software texts that has a similar animation and background around the text. That way, when I do "speech to text", or ANY text, it will have those presets.

@Cupcake I can observe the same thing. It seems that enabling both in Titles & Text is not allowed.

Are you going to use "Animation" in Titles & Text for animation? I don't think that's good. You can't customize it. I suggest you make the animation manually. Here're a few different ways to do so:

  • Use XY position in Titles & Text, which is the easiest one to think of, but you can't store it as preset or copy it with one click by some means.
  • Use Pan/Crop of the events. (Or add a Picture in Picture FX to the events, depending on your habits.) Different from the first point, you can copy and paste these attributes via "Selectively Paste Event Attributes" feature. Most recommended way in this case.
  • Use "Adjustment Event" feature since VP21. Based on the second point, this allows you to store your animation as a separate adjustment event. However, you need to copy each adjustment event above each text event.

Using VEGAS Pro 22 build 248 & VEGAS Pro 21 build 208.

@Cupcake A background box cropped to text is only available for static titles. If you need a background box with an animated title, you have to create the background box separately on an lower track. Just create the background box by typing spaces instead of text.
