Text Color and Adding Watermark backdrop

I am wondering if there is a way to add a watermark backdrop wording. I have some photos that do not take up the entire space and I want to create a soft, muted backdrop with the words Class of 2009, for my graduation video. I don't want the words to stand out so much, but think it would look better than the plain black backdrop that is showing now.

Also, I would like the words to go on a diagonal slant across the page, (from bottom left to top right across) not just straight across.

I am also trying to make my backdrop black, with the watermark words grey. I'm not sure what the easiest way to maneuver around with the colors to find gray - I'm really having a hard time trying to find the color gray.

Highlight the track TEXT MEDIA. Then, up at the top, Click INSERT, then select TEXT MEDIA.

From there, type in your text, adjust properties for the color, font and size of the text, and adjust the level of the track for the text media (either the level slider in the track name, or drag the level line downward at the top of the clip in the track) for how faint you want it to appear.

As for making it diagonal, you could click on the crop function on the text clip and rotate the window so that the text appears diagonally, but i am not sure if that will create the effect you are looking for, as it will also make the individual characters diagonal, and I think you are hoping to keep each character upright, but the word to slant as if they were on steps...

Neutral grey would have RGB values of 127,127,127. I tend to do it a little differently. I'll add the text as white, then use the track header level slider to drop the opacity. That way if i'm using something other than a black background it will show through the text.

Use Pan/Crop on the text events to rotate them to whatever angle you want.
