There is no way to do this with scripting alone.

OK jeffjackson, I see this is your FIRST - and of course only post on a SONY Forum - welcome aboard!

You need to know that there are several, fabulous SONY forums and maybe I am incorrect in saying this, but, I think you have come to the not so suitable forum for this question to be answered. This Forum is for the very powerful "Scripting" functions that Vegas can do. And maybe that IS why jr - a Scripting GuRu of the finest! - gave the "scripting-solution" reply.

Now if I am correct, then what you are asking, and that you aren't looking for a Scripting solution to your question, then maybe I can help!

1] Put your Video on Track 2

2] Put your Text, from the Media Generator tab, on Track 1

You can then slide your Text and/or Video into position and have your video be see, or as you say "display text over a moving video or footage . . "

And that's about it!!

This forum is for Scripting procedures that can automate often repetitive stuff. Scripting does MUCH more than that, but that, in essence is it.

Hope I have guessed correctly and that the above helps. But maybe you have already figured it out??

And again "Welcome Aboard"!
