It has been a couple of days and no one has tried to help you. I am rather new to Vegas but it looks to me like Vegas can keyframe anything. In fact I may have done what you described by mistake once. It may take awhile to get used to it and you may need a tutorial. Have you figured it out yet?

One thing i've noticed about text generator keyframes is that most of them won't vary smoothly from one to the next. The act like they are set for "hold". The previous keyframe stays in effect statically until the next keyframe is reached, and then it instantly snaps to the next keyframe's settings.

So, for example, if you had one keyframe at the beginning with no feathering and one at the end with a lot of feathering, you wouldn't see any feathering at all because it wouldn't start until after the last frame.

I just tried this and mine appears to vary smoothly. The preview screen associated with the text generator doesn't work right at all, but when I play it in the timeline it does exactly what I would expect.

Also when I drag the current time cursor in the preview screen in the text generator, I see the feather/width sliders move gradually as I slide the cursor from left to right.

I did just as you suggested, put one keyframe at the beginning with no feathering, and one at the end with full feathering. When I play it in the timeline it transitions smoothly from one setting to the other over the duration of the text effect.

Had a play with this and think I've discovered the problem.

If you start with no effect, e.g. border, and finish with a wide border it appears only when you reach the keyframe with border. On the other hand if you start with a border defined as having zero width you get a smooth progression. Actually, I do see a thin border, even when the width is set at zero, so it might be best to add a keyframe with no border just before the zero width one.
