Text gen v Pro Type Titler

The thing I like about Vegas Text gen is that I can take a word like WITBANK and place a key 6 frames on and change the text to read WHITHRANKE and then another key 6 frames on to read WHITE RIVER

A bit like what you see at airport arrival terminals........ but you can’t do this in Pro Type or can you?

don't think so, two different types of generators. Both have their strengths.

Text doesn't do a lot of the neat tricks protype does, but what you're wanting is exactly why people complained about it's keyframing for the most part. :) But that's a sweet idea! In protype you'd need to do some motion & what not to get it to even be close.

Well, sort of. But it wouldn't be anywhere near as easy as it is in the regular generator.

I'm envisioning a ProType event with several text blocks, each with automation toggled on for Opacity and the Y Offset. Alternatively, one text block, each phrase on a line, and automation toggled on for those same properties, but at the Line level. In the latter case, positioning would probably be a bit of a chore.

Maybe Sony needs to add a "content" property for the ProType Titler so that it itself could be keyframed.

I agree Rob

What baffles me is why they don’t include a solid block that you can add a pic or vid clip on so we can apply the text motion to incoming or exiting clips
Or multiple clips

In other words all the text motions can now be applied to a video wall or multiple clips

What baffles me is why they don’t - 'cos they ain't thought of it? Maybe?

OK, couple of solutions for a 16x16 Video PLUS Txt VideoWall:

A] Pair up Video and Text and Parent Motion the pair and repeat for 16x16

B] Create one veg of 16x16 Video PLUS another veg of 16x16 Text. Use a 3rd veg and Place TEXT 16x16 over Video 16x16

This WOULD give you what you want but NOT the text<>video functionality you speak of in ONE Veg. However, these 2 ways will get the result you wish. and they are both thoroughly editable.
