Text Media Background Color

Hopefully, a simple question -- how do I change the "background" color (not text color) from black to something else on a text inserted media. I have tried a right click, properties, media, backgroud color -- but the color still remains black? I do not want to change all media, just a few added text items. Anyone had success with this function?

Make sure that you've raised the transparency to something that allows you to show the color. By default, the setting is for full transparency, so you won't see any color. This would allow clips to "show through." To change transparency, raise or lower the Alpha slider that's directly beneath the Foreground button. Alpha channel = transparency in this instance.
