Text media causes drastic slowdown??

I'm working on a 1920x1080 project. The video handling works just fine on the timeline, however, when I add text media to the timeline and try to work with it, VMS comes to a near stand still. For example, if I want to move the text around in the frame, it is not smooth, I"ll drag it with the mouse and it doesn't move until a second later, it's really bad. What is causing this?? I thought my computer was fast enough, powerful enough to handle this stuff?

Intel Core i7-2600K CPU 3.40Ghz
8GB memory

I also have a i7-2600K at 3.4GHz, 8GB memory, and have no such problem.
Something else is going on here. Your computer should totally be able to handle this.

Unfortunately, I don't know what it might be, or how to advise you.
All I can say is that it *should* do better.

Are you working with the "Text and Titles" feature? Do you have a shadow enabled?

There is a known bug in Text & Titles with the shadow enabled, which I think has not yet been fixed by Sony. The workaround is to use the Legacy Text media generator, or to disable the shadow on Text & Titles.

Ok, so I discovered that it does have something to do with the shadow being enabled. When shadow is enabled, when I drag the text, it doesn't work, not just not smoothly, but it jumps all over the place with a tiny movement of the mouse. When I turn shadow off, I can then move the text with the mouse much more smoothly. I should mention that I'm using Build 256 because there is/was a crashing issue with build 295... So I guess what I'll do is just turn off the shadow while I'm positioning stuff, and then turn it on after I'm finished moving it around..
