Text Scaling

I have a project I'm fixing where I need to have the text characters in the title be wider than they would be based on point size alone. In Word I can fix this by going to Format/Font/Character Spacing/Scale. Works like a charm. In Vegas though, the only scaling function I've found so far is on the properties tab of the title video event fx dialog, and it manipulates both the height and the width of the characters. To me that seems to be doing the same thing as varying the point size. Is there a way I can expand or scale the width of the text characters bigger without having to make them taller too?

Open up Pan/Crop for the text event, turn off Source / Maintain aspect ratio, and turn off the button that maintains aspect ratio while cropping. Now you can drag the cropping frame in horizontally without affecting it vertically, and the text will stretch out wider.

So simple, thanks for the pointer.
