use the Wax plugin for Vegas, it has presets for doing exploding text and particles

vic, all letters "now" or a slow breakdown of the letters? use blufftitler + vegas. blufftitler is real quick and lets you chain events.

I use boris for this. Another great transition is to reverse the particle explosion - particles come together into the letters. I owuld assume the other programs also have this capability (if nothing else use the velocity envelopes in Vegas to create the reverse effect). Cheezy but great!!

Yes, Wax is great for doing this - and even free!

You could always get Particle illusion SE, which sells for $99 and is the same particle generator used in Combustion 3. It's an EXCELLENT particle generator, hollywood quality....

Can you turn text into particles with Particle Illusion? I have the program but have not tried this.

Many thanx to all -

less than 4 hours and 5 different approaches (all of which I will explore)!

This forum is awesome.

Thanks once again.

ps - Satish - where can I find Wax?

Just goto satish's site (debugmode.com) it's there.

If you are shattering the letters there's a shatter plugin somewhere. You could use that.

Wax has it inbuilt. Just use the Text with Shatter (or something similar) preset in Wax
TheHappyFriar wrote on 7/20/2004, 5:30 PM
oh... never knew that (haven't had a need for wax since 2.0 was released... :( )

Satiish plugins are great, especially the shatter. But Blufftitler text is better and has better particle generatorsl Plus has a large number of examples. it's easy to add to, I have added addtional reflective surfaces for textsurfaces. Blufftitler is alot easier and faster than AE, but does have limitations, ie. limited output formats, frameserving, but of course, it's only $45 vs. $399.
