cant reply to crap, and lets see where this post ends up...

first of all brian...no thats not the kind of latency I was
talking about, but your reply was informative, so I saved
it as a *.txt file.

I am playing a guitar to previously recorded drum tracks on
vegas
I am using my DA-88's as converters in and out of my
mixtreme card

when I record it sounds fine but when I play back, it is
behind

Also, I am trying to learn c also, and thanks to peter, I
may someday be able to write " hello world "
e-mail me if you are serious about your app please

Vic, you know how freakin much they wanted at kinko's to
print manuals??? it would make you barf...lets kill some
trees, I cant afford this paperless ofiice stuff

Knew SF was on an austerity kick ... just look at all the
money they are saving with this small print ... but #4462
of 4454 has gotta be a whole new concept in utilizing
resources.

KAC ...

Ohhh...you're using a DA-88. I take it you're going into
the mixtreme digitally then from the DA-88. Here's
something you should look into then, I use to teach this in
my recording classes using DA-88's, but have forgotten the
exact procedure for doing this now. When you're using the
Digital outs of the DA-88 there is a setting you must
adjust, this is especially true when doing digital to
digital transfers....pretty much what you're doing.
There's a menu item having to do with digital output and
you have to set it so that it corresponds that you're using
the digital outs. If you don't set this correctly, the
digital out actually has a 15mS delay (or something around
there), this may be where you're experiencing your latency
problems. They did this to make the digital and analog
outs line up correctly, because there's a 15mS delay time
coming out the analog outs. I'm not sure where to tell you
to look for this information either. Sometimes people will
run into this problem when doing a digital to digital
transfer of a DA-88 tape and then notice there SMPTE offset
times don't exactly match up on the copied tape, and that's
because of this Delay that Tascam threw into the mix. Do a
little reading and see if you can run accross this info in
the DA-88 manual. If you can't find it, let me know and I
will contact my Sinsae, who taught me all my recording
techniques and ask him to give me a refresher on this.

I assume you are talking about the analog timing: digital
or analog choice.

FWIW its on the second group menu on the rc 848
