Thanks SF, for new forum options

Just wanted to give someone a well deserved pat on the back for improving the options on this forum. I particularly like being able to view all replies on one page.

I'm a relatively new Sonic Foundry convert. Tried & bought VV3 back in December. Then in January bought Sound Forge 5.0 with Noise Reduction 2.0 Plug-In. All great programs. And all bought on advice of other users and after trying out your free download versions.

This forum has been tremendously helpful to me. Your support of it and participation in it, along with the other great people here, has been a major factor in my decision to invest in your products. Your programs are excellent and your continuing commitment to your customer's satisfaction is exceptional. In the marketplace people vote with their money, and you get my vote.

I freely recommend your software to all who ask.

Thanks & keep up the good work.

I concur. It is so nice to simply be able to print the entire thread with one screen rather than having to print separate pages. I usually print pages that have cool tips so that I can refer to my file when I need to recall said tip. This new format rocks and saves me a lot of extra paper and steps. Whoever did the work did not waste their time as far as I'm concerned.

I too went the Notepad route, then decided to go a step further. Haven't yet, but on my things to do list. :-)

Doing the old cut and paste makes a good first step, however converting to web pages is better, a database would be nice, but probably overkill. You can get fancy or keep it very simple using plain old HTML. Really all you need to do is include each article you find interesting within the paragraph tags

...

then you can use your browser's FIND (on this page) Ctrl-F) [under Edit] to locate things quickly.

Going a step further you could add a TOC with links that jump to topics. I suppose you could also include a simple CGI script for more powerful searching or some Java Script or DHTML for more elborate things. As a quick and dirty trick you could include each article title within a table row assuming you have a decent HTML editor resorting is no problem. You could add articles to your "master" tips project by just making each topic a seperate new web page, the TOC would be on a different web page with links to the others from within the table. Really, very simple stuff. Because you'd keep the pages on your PC, should load very fast.

GG,

That's a great idea. It would probably be worth it's weight in support gold for SF as well to have a "tips" section. They have a tutorial section, but it's so far out of date that it's not all that useful any more imo, plus it is not dynamic.

Coolness...

Just curious. Now that we have the option to view the entire thread, how many continue to view via the threaded format, clicking on one message at a time?

That copying/pasting is facilitated by the new layout is one plus. The other (and for me more useful) advantage is that one click of the back button will now take you from the last message of a thread straight back to the topics list. That's a real time/thumb (I use a track ball) saver.

And, I do believe, this latest enhancement was made within days of having been suggested on the board.

Great work, SF.
