that one script alone has saved me a good bit of time - I love it.

Me thinks this script is similar to Still Motion? Yes? I bought that a few months back and it's paid for itself many times over. When used with Markers set to the music's beat it's fabulous.

Tried to play your clip and got this error message. I am using MP 9.0c

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred. The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the network and that your proxy settings are correct.

I get this message on occaision when trying to play a clip someone has made available, but infrequently.

You’re welcome. I’m glad that script has helped you be more productive.

It’s a shame that people who use other NLE’s don’t understand the power of Vegas scripting. (I guess it’s a shame more Vegas users don’t understand it either) Scripting makes Vegas so powerful; I don’t think I could use an NLE that didn’t have this capability.

Sony should really play scripting up bigger in head-to-head comparisons with other NLE’s. The time it saves in post production costs is staggering when you think of how long it would take to put together a simple pan/scan photo montage with 300 pictures (seconds vs hours).

I guess scripting is one of the "best kept secrets" about Vegas. :(

If I wanted to learn scripting could you recommend something to give me a leg up? A book? Tutorial? DVD?

Hmm a book on Vegas scripting would be really nice. I can program ok but learning new APIs without a book can be painful for people that program as a hobby.

Can we expect a VASST book on scripting sometimes in the future ?

Sad thing is they often mention in reviews Vegas doesn't have multicam and batch processing... They should really take a look at scripting...
Spot|DSE wrote on 3/5/2006, 9:45 AM
Agreed. What's ironic as hell is that Premiere, FCP, Liquid, and Avid all have multicam. All of them are kludgy and slow compared to what infinitiCAM, Excalibure, Ultimate S, and DoubleTake can do. In a couple of the aforementioned apps, you have to create proxies before you can edit multicam! Ridiculous.
Scripting is a huge boon to Vegas.
As far as a tutorial or book....well....:-) Ya never know what might be in the works.

I've been waiting for V6 by DSE to hit the market. On my list at amazon. But a scripting cheat sheet would be just the ticket. I have my fingers crossed anyway.

There's a lot of tutorials and examples in my newsletters. That's a good place to start learning the basics. Plus there are a couple of scripting sections on my site as well with more examples and samples and answers to questions.

scripting is very simple, you just find someone who understands puter language and tell them what what you want..............I'm lucky my kid writes them for us. I have no clue.
