I would like to say thanks to Mike Crash and everyone else here in this forum. about 6 months ago I switched to Adobe Premier Pro 1.5 after fighting with it, Problems, I was wanting to come back to Vegas. The problems I was having in premier> were Hyper threading enabled Crash, Using Auto color, levels Crash, Rendering 1 1/2 Movie Crash. I know its Premier with the Crashs, becouse I installed Vegas and it has not crashed once...

I am thankfull to see that Mike Crash has a cool plug-in. and its good to be in a forum that everyone else is freindly.

Thanks

Chris

Have you noticed that now Vegas has a silly smirk on its face?

Welcome back, but I'm curious - why caused you to want to switch?

I'm also recently back to Vegas (5.0) after a long hiatus from Vegas Audio 2.0 but with a different story. I've been in pro audio since 1968 and started doing audio on the PC with Cakewalk and then Vegas. The reasons I left Vegas after 2.0 were that I got fed up with waiting for basic audio functions like proper bus routing, punch-on-the-fly and a number of others that the SF developers on the SF forum claimed at the time were not necessary.

In trying out various other audio multitrack programs that had the features I was missing in Vegas 2.0 I remember how my jaw dropped when I played back a Vegas multitrack project in one of them and heard my tracks with a transparency and definition that I'd never heard in Vegas. I immediately bought that program and have used it for all audio work ever since.

When I started doing video work I tried a number of NLEs, including Premiere and Avid but wasn't happy with any of them. I kept seeing recommendations for Vegas but was a little cautious after my previous experiences but thought I'd give it a try.

After I downloaded the demo I was blown away by how good it is and how far it's come and I bought it and haven't looked back. I still use my other audio program for my audio clients but for video I'm very happy indeed to be using Vegas :)

What audio prog is it, trock? -(just out of interest)

Samplitude Pro, a German program. In the audio world it's kind of like Vegas is in the video world - those who know of it and use it love it and feel it is superior in many key ways to the better-known and more accepted programs.

Thank you Trock – or Tony – for (implicitly) recommending Vegas at the Magix user forum. After few days I downloaded the trial version, and now I’ve purchased Vegas 5. I like it very much, but there are some minor / major (your choice) shortcomings.

Hey Joran, nice to see you here! I spoke with Adontech also from the Magix forum this week and he also bought Vegas 5.

What do you consider are the shortcomings? Reason I ask is that I keep finding new things that Vegas can do (I bought some great books on it) and maybe one of the shortcomings is something it can do but it's not obvious.

Grazie is right about the coffee-making skills though :)
