The BEST Add-On App in my toolbox for Vegas Pro

Videoimpressions0622 wrote on 12/6/2025, 2:32 PM

Shortly after the Vegas Hub speech-to-text problems occurred last month, several colleagues told me about Auto Captions for VEGAS Pro. After using this add-on app for about a month, now, I have found it to be the best add-on in my toolbox for Vegas Pro!

Usually, I am here asking for advice or seeking resolutions to problems, but now I finally have a chance to pay you back by letting all of you know that I have found an easy-to-use, extreme time-saver that has significantly helped me in my editing processes, and I wanted to share it with everyone!

While Vegas Pro’s speech-to-text module offers a finite number of minutes (which one has to purchase more of when used up), Auto Captions for VEGAS Pro is a perpetual lifetime license with free updates and no charges for minutes used. It is customizable and IMHO much faster than Vegas Pro’s built in module. Auto Captions for VEGAS Pro uses AI, as well, but being customizable one can run varying degrees of intensity to obtain more accurate results. In my experiences, it is more accurate than Vegas Pro’s speech-to-text, ass well.

I want to express my thanks to those of you who pointed me towards Auto Captions for VEGAS Pro, and hope that the author will continue to update and support this app. If you need fast, accurate subtitles (and there is a whole menu of customizable options), this app definitely will save you time and money!

If you want to test it out for 15 days (no watermarks or any such nonsense, either), here is the URL…

…and the return on your investment of the reasonable $49 price tag will be afforded after your first editing session using this app, based upon the ease-of-use and time savings experienced!!

**DISCLAIMER**: I have written this unsolicited testimonial because I strongly believe in this app’s usefulness and effectiveness. I am not in any way affiliated with the author of this app nor do I have any monetary interest in it nor am I in any position to gain anything of value by virtue of  Auto Captions for VEGAS Pro. I have found it to be such a great app, perfectly suited for generating subtitles with ease and accuracy, that I want Vegas Pro users to be aware of it, for I would want to know about it given my need for subtitling. I hope that it will be as useful for many of you as it is for me personally. The opinions expressed herein are strictly my own based upon use and ownership of a license for this app.

I really hope that many of you will benefit as much as I have from regularly using Auto Captions for VEGAS Pro!

This tool seems to be made by plagiarizing other people's codes, and buying it may encourage plagiarism. Just like pirated Vegas, it works well, but it is usually not accepted here.

To accuse anyone of such an act requires proof-positive. While you may be correct, you just as well may be wrong! Without adequate proof, you could be setting yourself up for libel!! If you have such proof, thank you for bringing it to everyone's attention and offer it to us; if not, I would be very careful what I say in public. Until such time as this app is proven beyond a reasonable doubt that it plagiarizes anyone else's work, I will continue to use it without reconsideration!!!

Before, someone showed proof-positive in the post posted by the plug-in author, which made the author quit the forum in shame.

I didn't see any allegations regarding this plugin, only a different one.

I'm not aware of another plugin for Whisper for VEGAS that could have been copied; other than this it was all manual installation and simple scripts to call it up.

No, they didn't - or at least not regarding Auto Caption. The software there was an issue with was Demucs for VEGAS Pro from the same author, and there did indeed seem to be some evidence that that add-in may have been plagiarised, allegedly. This caused some backlash, and as a result the author stated they would no longer be writing plugins for Vegas Pro, and initially took down his github repositories for all three of the add-ins he was responsible for (Auto Captions for VEGAS Pro, Audio Sync for Vegas Pro, and Demucs for Vegas Pro) and, as you say, quit the Vegas forums (I suspect in anger, rather than shame)

I want to echo what Videoimpressions0622 said about Auto Captions—it’s an excellent, reliable program with many useful options. I’ve used numerous captioning tools over the past 35 plus years, and this one consistently works.

When I needed a feature the program didn’t yet include, Joelson personally wrote a script for me and even created a video tutorial showing me how to use it. That level of customer support is exceptional.

I’ve also purchased and used Auto Sync, and after buying and using 3–4 similar programs over the years that weren’t reliable, this one has proven to be rock-solid. I truly want to support businesses that make my life easier, and Joelson’s programs solve real problems for me.

With the rise of AI—and as someone who isn’t a coder—I would assume that if any code were plagiarized, that would be a legal matter. But based on my experience, the work and support from Joelson have been nothing but professional and trustworthy.

I would like to add to what jredmond has stated. Several days ago I started receiving an error when attempting to render subtitles under a specific set of circumstances. I contacted Joelson, who started looking into this problem immediately. Over the course of the past three days we emailed back and forth, while all the while sending me revised scripts and video tutorials. Despite the fact that I am certain he has a full plate on his table (don't we all), he nevertheless never gave up and was persistent in resolving this anomaly! 6 or 7 revised scripts later, he nailed it! His current version of Auto Captions for Vegas was written for VP21, and I use VP23--apparently his current script for some reason clashed with some VP23 code! Long story short: he resolved the problem--quickly, courteously, responsibly, and by putting himself in my place! Now when was the last time you received customer service like this??!! The good that came out of this was two-fold--my problem was eradicated AND it was brought to Joelson's attention that he needed to change his script for versions after VP21--a win-win situation, by my observations! So if anyone out there using VP22 or later is having issues with Auto Captions for Vegas, Joelson will gladly supply you with the latest script! Support for small businesses never should be taken for granted!!
