The dreaded 'An online connection cannot be established'

I'm getting the dreaded 'An online connection cannot be established' error upon starting up Vegas Pro 14. It always asks for my serial number and email, but can't connect to verify them.

YES, I'VE CHECKED: The TLS stuff is ticked. I check the Background stuff in the Computer Management. I've checked the Internet Explorer stuff.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Same error. Please help.
