The DVD doesn't work as previewed

When I preview in DVDA the project the first things on screen is a slide which displays 2 buttons & loops music in the background. If I press the first button the entire movie plays. If I press the second button I go to the first of 3 scene detection menues & all of these menus take me to the correct chapter.

When I put the disk into my DVD player the movie starts to play at the beginning of my project & will continue playing until the end.
The introductory slide & chapters selection menues aren't played. If when the project is playing I press the menu button I indeed do get taken to the correct menu & from there I can get to the correct chapter.

Why the differance between the 2 ways these play? Did I get something wrong & if so how do I fix it?

Sounds like you may have added the movie to the introductory media under File - Properties.

Thanks for that information. I'll check this out. If that is indeed the problem would the entire project then have to be re rendered after the error is fixed?

If you did not pre-encode to MPG2, then the answer would be "yes." It would have to be re-rendered.

It was a good day for me whan I started pre-encoding my video to MPG2 upstream of the project.

Makes fixing errors, typos, etc. very quick and simple.

I'm am certain that you are correct when you suggest that I messed up the introductory 'first play' screen. I think what perhaps what I see & interpret as an introductory screen is really more like a theme page that has no navigational tools to reach it even though it has buttons that work to get out from that page. Can one have buttons on this screen?

How do I convert this current introductory screen that I have into a true introductory screen?

The introduction is for a short video/audio that you want to play before you go to your first menu. Commercial videos often use it to identify the producer i.e "Turner Video" etc.. If you place something long there it will not only play forever, it will make your DVD very large.

Can the introduction screen have buttons on it that can take you to your scene selection menu & play entire video options etc?

If so how do you get the buttons on this page?

No, then it would be a menu. Your main menu serves that purpose already. The introduction is only to allow you to place media that will play before your main menu.

If the introduction page doesn't get buttons does this mean that I can't achieve what I mentioned in this threads first posting?

Could I achieve what I have stated if I make the first screen you see into the same basic screen with the 2 buttons & just set this screen to play both video & music in a loop? If I did this would my video just stay on this first screen until either of the button options were chosen?

I have just compased my DVD and the Introduction media doesn't play at all when I preview. I deleted the Introduction media and re-entered and even rebooted with no effect.

Can anyone offer some pointers as to why it refuses to play.

Is it still liable to play once burnt to a DVD?

Cheers.

Oops. Just noticedthe menu option beside the preview button with the item 'Preview all'.

This has solved my problem.

Thanks anyway.
