The good & bad in 5.0 & suggesstion

I love CDA 4.0!! and luckily I'm running Windows 98SE with an older Yamaha 6X burner that works with it. At first the CDA 5.0 demo looked nice, but in my opinion it lacks a lot of the intuitivness of 4.0. I like the CD Player emulator controls where they were and the fact that you could hold down the FFWD button and FastForward through a track rather then just move a speed scroll bar in the new version. I don't like the Crossfade choices in the new version! I wan't to have control of the curve and at what point and what level it fades in or out like you have in 4.0. I like the media pool part and the ability to preview the track before putting it in the timeline window, but what I think would be a really good idea is to have an option in the new version to run in "Classic Mode" meaning work just like 4.0, but of course have support for newer burners and OS's. Kind of like how Windows XP you can make the start menu the Colorfull new XP Style or the regular classic style that many people are accustomed to.

You can have any crossfade transition you want in the new version. Just expose the 2nd audio layer, and, voila, a new track with which to create any transition conceivable.

as for the cd emulation - yes, it was better in 4.0

as for everything else, I can't see why you'd still want to use 4.0. This one offers SO much more, is faster and couldn't be much more intuitive.

Yes, I miss the CD Player too, however Vegas uses the same type of speed adjustment, so I guess this is what we are stuck with.

(Not that it is totally horrible, but the old way was a little nicer...) :-)

Why don't you try J K L shortcuts?

I have to agree with Thinkster...So far as things stand the 2 things i like about 5.0 is the 2nd time line and the meter indicators...other than that 4.0 was WAY more intuitve
